THE BASICS
Who, What, Where, How, Why: About the island of Kunpuu
Where am I?
You are in Kunpuu, your dream paradise. ...Or is it?
What is Kunpuu?
Kunpuu is used as the name of the island itself, but is also a town near the beach. It has a forest, other little shops and businesses, apartments, and houses. This town basically has anything a normal town has.
How did I get here?
Characters can be brought here in numerous ways. They can do something as simple as opening a door and arrive in Kunpuu, or they can just suddenly be warped here. Maybe they were killed and then appeared here. Just as long as they don't know where they are or get here on purpose, any explanation you give for their appearance is accepted. Let your imagination run wild~
Is there any danger here?
Usually the only danger to be found is the weather or the events. The two queens have control over everything on the island as well as the sea around it, so don't make them angry.
Of course, if you get on the bad side of your fellow islanders, that can be dangerous too, depending on who they are.
Can my character interact with the mermaids?
Your character can always talk to Cyriana, who can usually be found in the fountain that's in the center of town. If you need to talk to either of the queens, Cyriana will either arrange a meeting or simply deliver messages for you. More information on Cyriana is here.
Who is the Pearl Queen?
Her name is Azaria, and she's one of Kunpuu's two ruling queens. Unlike Thalassa, she's very rarely a threat to those living on the island.
Who is Thalassa?
Otherwise known as the Black Pearl, Thalassa is Azaria's twin sister. She has always craved the throne, but because she and Azaria are about equal in power, Thalassa has never quite succeeded in stealing it.
Who is Lanlina?
Lan is the newest of the mermaid NPCs, and possibly the weakest (though, still strong enough that she's impossible to take on alone). She seems to be a subordinate of sorts of Thalassa and therefore most of the things she does is generally meant to work in her favor. At the same time though, there's subtle hints that Lanlina might have separate plans of her own.
While she does use magic similar to the others, she has a more 'scientific' approach to everything and likes picking things apart and studying it. Most of the times this ends up being island residents or powers/weapons unique to them. She essentially likes to toy with people to see what they're capable of and in the long run decide if they might be useful to keep around. There seems to be this possibility of actually turning characters into minions if their hearts/emotions become too weak. (which explains why most mermaid attacks seem to intentionally try to break people emotionally or mentally)
Lanlina is generally hard to come into contact with Unless she's wanting to come into contact with you, since she spends most of the time in a lair under the ocean somewhere. Sometimes she does make trips up to the surface though just to shake things up, or one of her current plans is getting snagged up.
Special arrangements can be made, however. Depending on who's asking.
Getting By in Kunpuu: How life is here
Can my character use his/her power?
Yes and no. Your character can have their powers, but the strength will be lessened and take more energy to use. This is due to the power ban Azaria has cast over the island. Cyriana is in charge of maintaining the ban, and if you have a very good reason (such as, it is a matter of life and death), she may allow a bit more of your power to return to you.
Can my character die?
Yes, though not for good. When your character dies, they will be gone for a minimum of 24 hours. The next day, your character will wake up at wherever they're staying, unharmed, like nothing ever happened.
Can my character leave?
This is another yes and no question.
Characters can disappear from the island briefly for a few reasons, such as:
1) Because the player is taking a hiatus.
2) In order to do a canon update or change the timeline they're from. For example, if your Sora's point in canon is when he lost the keyblade to Riku and you want to move him to post-game, or to an earlier point in the game, he'll leave Kunpuu for a day or however long you think is needed.
Whether or not your character remembers being here when they return is up to you.
3) You can also "reset" a character. "Resetting" a character means that they leave Kunpuu for a bit and don't remember previously being here when they come back.
But characters can't chose when to leave or do something get out on their own. It's seemingly random when they leave--they get no warning of it.
What kind of money does Kunpuu accept?
Kunpuu only accepts the gold and silver coins that are called Kale. The gold coins have Azaria's profile on them, and the silver ones have Thalassa's. You can earn Kale by getting a job.
If you have currency from your own world, Cyriana will exchange it for Kale.
What's the deal with the fountain?
If you toss a few Kale in Cyriana's fountain and make a wish, you can get any item from your world--even if it's only found in your world. It will appear in a package on your doorstep the day after you made your wish.
Where can my character live?
Characters can either live in a house or apartment. Some of them shops around town also have apartment spaces above them your character can stay in.
Can my character live with another?
Yes, as long as both muns are agreed. As in the rules, we don't want anyone doing something without the other's permission.
OTHER INFORMATION
Questions about apps, ect., that don't fit anywhere else
What is a mun?
"Mun" is the nickname for a player of a character. For example, Cloud-mun would be the person who plays Cloud.
What fandoms can I app from?
All fandoms are fair game. We accept any fandom, not just anime or video game ones. If we aren't familiar with your fandom, we will find someone who is and have them look over you app.
What if my character was an animal or non-human?
Characters can be non-human. This roleplay is made for everyone~
Do you want the character's personality or what actually happened to the character in the character's background?
A bit of both is perfect, but focus on their history mostly for the background. We use the third-person and first-person samples more to judge how well you know the character's personality.
I dropped Kunpuu a while back, but I've been thinking about picking some/all of my old characters back up. Should I reapply (with or without a completely new application)?
No, you do not have to reapply unless you want to or you feel out of practice with the character. You were already accepted once for that character, so re-applying is not necessary. If no one else has been accepted as them while you were away, you are free to continue right where you left off.
Are there any other ways to get out of writing an application?
Yes, actually. If you have played the same character(s) in another game, then link us to the accepted application(s) and you are good to go!
If someone already on the island can vouch for your skill with whoever you want to app, that's also acceptable.
Once again, if you have any questions that aren't addressed on here, then don't be afraid to contact a mod. We'll answer any questions you have--no matter how stupid you think they are. ♥
